The difference between MBps and Mbps

Mbps is the abbreviation of M bit per secend (how many megabits per second) = Mb/s

MBps is the abbreviation of M Byte per secend (how many megabytes are transferred per second) = MB/s

Mb and MB are capacity units, followed by /s is the speed unit.

The difference between MBps and Mbps is 8 times. Usually, the 1M, 2M, 5M, 8M, 10M bandwidth offered by the supplier is actually Mbps instead of MBps. Just convert it to calculate how much our actual speed is.

Example: The provider provides us with a 1M bandwidth network, 1Mbps (megabits/second) = 1/8MBps (megabytes/second) = (1/8) × 1024KBps = 128KBps (kilobytes/second)Byte/sec) x 1024 = 131072 Bps(byte/sec), our network speed is 131072B/s. Due to some loss factors during network transmission, the real network speed is 128KB/s × 75% = 96KB/s.

But in fact, when the supplier provides it, the unit base is designed in 1000 instead of 1024.Therefore, the network speed will only be lower, which is also the case in the hard disk manufacturer.

So actually, 1M bandwidth network 1Mbps (megabits/second) = 1/8 MBps (megabytes/second) = (1/8) x 1000KBps = 125KBps (kilobytes/second)x 1024 = 128,000 Bps (bytes/second) , we have a network speed of 128,000 B/s, and every 1 M bandwidth, the network speed will decrease by 3072 B/s = 3.072 KB/S

And, for the same traffic, we need to pay more money.Because the size of software, pictures, videos, and audios are all converted in base 1024.

Assuming that a software is 100Mb, then we need to download 104,857,600 bytes of content and require 104.8576 Mb of traffic.
