Industrial CCD and CMOS camera

The core device of an industrial camera lies in its photosensitive chip, which is mainly divided into two types: CCD or CMOS sensor array.

CCD is the English abbreviation of Charge Coupled Devices (Charge Coupled Devices).A metal-oxide-semiconductor (or MOS) structure is the basic unit of a CCD. Applying a voltage between the semiconductor and the metal gate electrode creates a potential well that stores charge.CCD mainly includes photosensitive area and storage area.When the camera is exposed, the photosensitive area converts the light signal into a charge array; during the field blanking period or the frame blanking period, the charge can be quickly transferred to the charge shift register in the storage area; finally, the charge can be controlled by a clock pulse.Read from the register, convert it into a voltage signal and amplify the output.CMOS is the English abbreviation of Complementary Metal Oxide Semiconductor. The CMOS array adopts the basic CMOS process in the integrated circuit process. The peripheral chip can be easily integrated into the sensor chip, so the cost is reduced, and the power consumption is lower than that of the CCD.However, each pixel in the CMOS array includes a photodiode, an amplifier and a readout circuit. Because the amplifier is based on analog electronic technology, the output results of each amplifier are difficult to be consistent.The signal noise obtained by the array is larger, and the image quality is reduced.
