1. thesis                     n. 论文，毕业(或学位)论文；论题，论点；(文章)的主题；
His 1967 dotoral thesis at U.C. San Diego argued(主张，认为) that computers should have graphical rather text-based interfaces.

2. manifesto               n.宣言【共产党宣言：Communist Manifesto】
He also issued(发表) occasional manifestos.

3. compact                 adj.简洁的，紧密的，紧凑的   n.合同，契约   v.使简洁
When Steve turned the Mac into a compact version of Lisa, it made it into a computing platform instead of a consumer electronic device.

4. barely                     adv. 勉强才能；几乎不，几乎没有；刚刚；仅仅，只有
He barely survived and ended up with partial amnesia(记忆缺失；遗忘症).

5. quarter                   n.地区，办公区，1/4
By early 1981 the Mac team had grown to about twenty, and Jobs decided that they should have bigger quarters.

There were some upsides to Jobs’s demanding and wounding behavior.

Jobs repeatedly railed as he wandered the Apple corridors(走廊).

But Steve heard me out and backed down.

Was all of his stromy and abusive behavior necessary? Probably not, nor was it justified(adj.合乎情理的，合理解释的，有正当理由的).
